On the afternoon of March 8th, the International College of Creative Design invited Professor Fang Xiaofeng to hold an Academic Insight Salon at Art Building A110. This conference is chaired by Gu Yi, Dean of the International Institute of Creative Design. All professional teachers from the International College of Creative Design participated in this salon event.
In this salon event, Professor Fang Xiaofeng focused on the theme of New Paradigm of Design Research. Starting with the analysis of writing style, the characteristics of the design discipline were analyzed, and finally, common problems were listed. He hopes that research in the field of design should break through stereotypes, emphasize practical innovation and unique perspectives, and avoid blindly imitating the paradigms of other disciplines; Journal articles should be clear and informative, showcasing the diversity and practicality of the discipline; Design studies should focus on practical research and promote the solid development of the discipline; In terms of researching emerging topics. Theoretical research should be combined with practice to avoid empty and vague discussions. Professor Fang Xiaofeng emphasized that research must be a penetration of phenomena. In terms of the theme research of the article, Professor Fang reminded that empirical literature in design should be cautious, avoid blindly pursuing hot topics, and try to focus on objectively describing facts.
During the Q&A session, teachers from different academic backgrounds had a brief exchange with Professor Fang. The teachers expressed that they had benefited greatly from this salon and the event was a complete success.
